Ad, Endorsement and Special Election News for January 25

LTGOV (Lean R): Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s (R) campaign released a new ad, “Promise,” featuring former President Trump’s endorsement and a familiar pickup truck.

SD25 (Likely R): Sen. Donna Campbell’s (R-New Braunfels) campaign released a new ad, “HealthCare,” focusing on her efforts to support veterans’ access to healthcare resources.

HD63 open (Likely R): The Dallas Morning News endorsed former Trophy Club Mayor Nick Sanders (R).

HD114 open (Safe D): Reps. Rhetta Bowers (D-Rowlett), Ana Hernandez (D-Houston) and Victoria Neave (D-Dallas) endorsed Alexandra Guio, as did Annie’s List.

HD142 (Safe D): Annie’s List endorsed primary challenger Candis Houston (D) over Rep. Harold Dutton (D-Houston).

CD28 (Lean D): A federal investigation that included a raid of U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar’s (D-Laredo) home and campaign office “will show that there was no wrongdoing on my part,” he said in a video posted to his Twitter account. Standing in front of his childhood home, Cuellar affirmed he is “running for re-election, and I intend to win.”Late last week, Cuellar’s campaign released a new ad, “Field of American Dreams.”

Austin: Chito Vela won outright (59%) the special election to fill the unexpired council term of Greg Casar, who is running for Congress. Turnout was 10.5%.

Houston: Mary Nan Huffman narrowly won outright (54%) the special election to fill the unexpired term of Greg Travis, who is running for open HD133. Turnout was 6.1%.
