Endorsement News and a Correction for January 4

Correction: Yesterday, we reported Rep. Ben Leman (R-Iola) had endorsed Ben Bius to succeed him in HD12 (Safe R). All of that is true except the “succeed him” part – Bius is challenging Rep. Kyle Kacal (R-College Station) in HD12. Leman is not seeking re-election to HD13 (Safe R).

SD10 (Likely R): Texas Right to Life PAC endorsed Rep. Phil King’s (R-Weatherford) challenge of Sen. Beverly Powell (D-Burleson). King’s campaign announced he raised $640K during the second half of 2021.

HD3 (Safe R): Texas Farm Bureau AGFUND endorsed Rep. Cecil Bell Jr. (R-Magnolia).

CD35 open (Safe D): U.S. Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Houston) endorsed Austin council member Greg Casar (D).

CD38 open (Safe R): U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R) will appear at a rally with Wesley Hunt (R) next week in Harris County, according to a campaign email to supporters.Mark Ramsey (R) released a list of endorsements including Railroad Comm. Wayne Christian (R), Agriculture Comm. Sid Miller (R) and Reps. Briscoe Cain (R-Deer Park), Mayes Middleton (R-Wallisville), Tom Oliverson (R-Cypress) and Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands). Texas Right to Life also endorsed Ramsey, who is a former member of the State Republican Executive Committee for SD7.
